HOULTON, Maine – Joseph H. Folsom Jr., 57, passed away Wednesday March 15, 2017, at a Houlton hospital surrounded by his wife Amy Tomah and his loving family. He was born March 7, 1960, in Houlton, of his mother Helen (DeVeau) Folsom Taylor. Joe grew up in Houlton and attended local schools.
He moved to Meridan, CT, while in his early twenties. Joe worked at a bakery and then later moved to Lewiston. He moved back to Houlton in 1992. Joe enjoyed tinkering on anything mechanical, fishing, fiddleheading, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother Helen Taylor of Houlton, he is survived by his seven children: Valerie L. Polchies of Houlton, Joseph Lenentine of Bath, Brady Tomah, Colby Tomah, Nicholas Folsom, Kaylee Folsom, Emma Folsom all of Houlton, two grandchildren: Samantha Polchies Sawyer of Merrill, Emily R. Polchies of Houlton, a great grandson Raydon Sawyer of Merrill. He will also be missed by his brother Gerald Folsom of Bend, OR, three sisters: Heidi Caron of Hodgdon, Carol Folsom of Houlton, Tammy Brackett of Houlton, two aunts: Phyllis DeVeau, Virginia Clark, and several nieces especially Zoe Donahue, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his father Joseph Sr., he was predeceased by an infant brother James and a special sister Laurie Pedersen.
Friends may call 12 noon, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Dunn Funeral Home, where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Brewer officiating. A reception will be held at the Maliseet Gymnasium. Interment will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
