AUGUSTA, Maine — Rep. Harold “Trey” Stewart (R) of Presque Isle was recently appointed to serve on the Task Force To Address the Opiate Crisis in the State.

The eight-person commission consists of legislators, addiction specialists, medical professionals and a recovering addict and will focus on possible solutions to the drug epidemic that is sweeping our state.

“With more than one Mainer dying every day from this epidemic this is a crisis that demands our immediate attention,” said Stewart. “A few months ago, there were five overdoses in one night in Presque Isle. This is an issue that impacts every community in Maine and I believe we have assembled a well-rounded group that brings a lot of different viewpoints to the table.

“I’m hopeful we can begin to implement some solid public policy that can help us address this crisis,” Stewart said.
