Joan H. McGowan

McGowan, Joan H., 83, died December 31, 2006 at The Aroostook Medical Center. Arrangements are in the care of Direct Cremation of Maine.     PRESQUE ISLE – Joan H. McGowan, 83, of Presque Isle, died December 31, 2006 at Aroostook Medical Center.  She was born October 25, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Marcus J. and Olga (Balog) Hayden. 
    Joan was educated in Port Chester, NY public schools and studied at St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in NY.  She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII. 
    Joan is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert F. McGowan; a brother Marcus J. Hayden.  She is survived by her daughters, Margaret McGowan of Chino Valley, AZ and Jeanie McGowan of Easton, ME; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. 
    At her request, there will be no services. Those who wish may make donations in Joan's memory to The Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library, 39 Second Street,  Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
