A number of local students performed and took home awards during the 86th annual Maine Drama Festival, held March 10 and 11 at various locations throughout the state.
High school drama teams competed in two classes, class A with schools of more than 525 students, and class B with populations of less than 525 students.
Presque Isle High School’s drama team joined the activities at Lawrence High School in Fairfield, presenting their entry “The Importance of Being Earnest: A Trivial Play for Serious People.”
PIHS earned second place overall for class A. Actors Tyler Levesque, Belle Thibault and Olivia Mosher were named to the all-festival cast, while Mykayla Butler, Sophia Gibson and Gibson earned a judges’ commendation for set design.
Competing at Stearns High School in Millinocket, the team from Easton Junior-Senior High School ranked sixth overall with their production “13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview.” Paul Bonner and Delia Bonner were named to the all-festival cast.
