Coaches honor Eagle athletes for winter sports participation

LIMESTONE, Maine — LCS/MSSM winter sports participants received accolades last Thursday, March 23.

Student-athletes from the middle level boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, JV and varsity boys’ and varsity girls’ basketball teams and the varsity boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams were honored.

Most valuable player awards, sportsmanship awards, most improved awards, defensive awards and coach’s awards were handed out to members of the various teams as follows:

Middle level girls’ basketball: MVP, Kourtney West; sportsmanship, Aida Smith; and most improved, Kennedy Bencivenga. Other team members were Marissa Green, Jazmine Wilkins, Cadence St. Pierre, Isabelle Levesque and Paige Hale.

Middle level boys’ basketball: MVP, Kobe West; most improved, Kyle LaBreck; and coach’s award, Barry Tucker. Carsen Poitras, Gunner Hatfield, Riley Pelletier, Jake Beaulieu and Paul Dale are the other members of the squad.

JV boys’ basketball: most improved, Ioan Smith; coach’s awards, Tommy Pinette and Dalton Kleinert. The remainder of the roster includes Braydon Martin, Ryan Berry, Zack Ellis, Eddie Mignacca, Trevor Hale, Karson Albert and Alec Comeau.

Varsity boys’ basketball: most improved, Mason Patten; defensive player of year, Travis Hatfield; and coach’s award, Trevor Hale. Making up the rest of the team are Sean Hale, Alex Sprague, Albert, Berry, Comeau, Kleinert, Matthew Martin, Pinette, Ellis, Braydon Martin, Smith and Willie McGirt.

Varsity girls’ basketball: MVP, Taylor LaBreck; most improved, Megan Tucker; and coach’s award, Rebecca Dillenbeck. Sierra Dann, Stephanie Bragg, Fariel LaMountain, Karoline Dillenbeck, Amelia Roy, Eunseo Son, Haleigh Luce and Morgan True round out the roster.

Varsity boys’ volleyball: MVP, Hatfield; most improved, Christopher Evans; and coach’s award, William Whitman. Trevor Gava, Richard Cheung and Oliver Wainman were the other team members.

Varsity girls’ volleyball: MVP, Samantha Zwecker; coach’s award, Victoria Eichorn; and most improved, Hannah Zimmerman. Making up the remainder of the roster were Mariana Witmer, Son, Isabella Martin, Victoria Moore, Aidan Sites, Lily Tedford and Delaney Rossignol.

The varsity boys’ basketball team received special recognition for winning the Class C North Sportsmanship Award from the Maine Principals’ Association.
