Roland R. Rossignol

CARIBOU, Maine — Roland R. Rossignol, 82, passed away unexpectedly April 2, 2017, in Caribou. He was born in Caribou, March 18, 1935, the son of the late Harry and Olive (Doody) Rossignol.

Roland served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1959, during the Korean War, and was a member of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion. Roland lived in Alaska for a number of years where he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. In 1987 he retired from the Alaska Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Roland loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing in Alaska, and he loved his jet boat. He loved animals big and small, especially cats and dogs and will be missed by Goober and Pumpkin. Roland was a frequent visitor to numerous local businesses, where he will be fondly remembered for his jokes and outgoing personality.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet (Knowlton) Rossignol; three stepdaughters, who gave him a lot of joy and love, Carolyn Cheney, Koralie Emerson and Kathy Ballard; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Rossignol was predeceased by a brother, Harry Jr.; a son, Wesley; a daughter, Kathy; and a stepson, Kevin Quimby.
Military honors will be held 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, from the Northern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
