ZEPHYRHILLS, FL, AND HOULTON, Maine — Clair A. Longstaff, 89, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Gardiner Health Care Facility, while surrounded by his family. He was born July 14, 1927, in Littleton, the son of Willis and Alice (Atkinson) Longstaff. Clair was a graduate of Houlton High School, class of 1945. He married Jeannette Faulkner of Monticello on August 1, 1948.
Clair enjoyed his time in Florida, playing golf, cribbage, and taking in the warm weather. He is survived by two sons; David Longstaff and his wife Mary of Norway, Rodney Longstaff and his wife Peggy of Linneus, grandchildren; Michelle Longstaff Haverinen and her husband Sam of South Paris, Sarah Longstaff Flagg and her husband Jim of Livermore, Erica Bernard of Minnesota, great grandchildren; Darren and Colby Flagg of Livermore, and Rodney’s two grandchildren; Jayden and Chesney Bernard of Minnesota, a sister-in-law and wife of Everett, Mary Longstaff of Sequim, WA, as well as several nieces and nephews in Maine and California. He also leaves behind two lifelong friends; Wendell Wood and Gerald Scott both of Houlton, Ted Hawkins of Kansas City, MO, and two special friends; Patti Rowell of Zephyrhills, FL, and Judy Gentle Holdsworth of New Hampshire. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Jeannette, two brothers; Everett Longstaff and Ralph Longstaff and his wife Justine, and a very special friend Joann Gentle Robertson.

Friends may call 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Dunn Funeral Home, where a service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Ashley officiating. A committal will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
