Dream Team wins third consecutive men’s hoop league title

CARIBOU, Maine — The Aroostook Dream Team has captured the men’s winter basketball league title for the third year in a row.

On Wednesday, April 5 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center, the squad bested Loring Job Corps, 60-50, in the finals.

The game went back and forth in the first half, with Job Corps leading by two points at halftime behind Devonte Ogelsby’s hot shooting from behind the three-point line.

The Dream Team’s pressure defense took over after intermission, while offensively, Alan Campbell led the way from the perimeter, Greg Whitaker controlled the inside and Ben Rosser showed some creativity with strong drives to the basket.

Whitaker led the winners with 20 points, followed by Campbell with 11, Rosser and Matt Till with nine each and Jeremiah Fitzherbert with eight. Jordan Haines provided the other three points.

Ogelsby finished with 20 for Job Corps and Julion Congelton was also in double figures with 11. Fareed Demby added seven, Josh Francis five, Hikiem Paradise three and Marcus Hicks and Chris Smith with two each.
