PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — An occupied duplex residence caught fire on Edgemont Drive, across the road from Northern Maine Community College, at approximately 2:45 p.m. this afternoon.
28 Edgemont Drive, the home of Jim and Donna Boodoo went up in flames Friday afternoon, April 7. The fire spread to the adjoining apartment at 30 Edgemont Drive, the home of John McNally.
After Presque Isle Fire Department arrived on scene they were told Jim Boodoo was still inside the burning home. PIFD found him trapped in a hallway and quickly brought him outside, according to PIFD Chief Darrell White. The chief added that Donna Boodoo had made it outside when crews arrived but her medical status was not known.
Crown Ambulance rushed the Boodoos to TAMC. No further information on their medical condition was available.
Neighbor McNally was not home and on his way to Bangor when he received the call about the fire. He returned home immediately to find his dog safe, but his possessions destroyed. Both apartments are a total loss.
Presque Isle Fire Department crews, assisted by Easton Fire Department are still on scene trying to extinguish the blaze at the time.
