Fourteen ladies and guests of the Katahdin Club met at Brookside Restaurant in Smyrna for breakfast on Friday, March 30. Everyone enjoyed the food, excellent service and the fact that it wasn’t storming.
Present were Sandra McNally, Gloria Willigar, Donna Grass, Jeannette Hafford, Marilyn Somers, Rachel Daniels, Mary Joy, Nora Willigar, Helena Porter, Bonnie McKeen, Laura Bomba, Jeanne Clemmons, Mary Moore and Becky Drew. Another meal time has been planned for lunch at the River Cafe in Island Falls for Friday, April 28, at 11:30.
The regular monthly meetings of the club will resume on Wednesday, May 10, at the Crystal Wesleyan Church at noon.
An Easter Fun Day is planned at the Island Falls Municipal Building on Saturday, April 15, from 2-4. This is for all age children and will feature games and snacks and an opportunity to have photos taken with the Easter Bunny for $2 per child. A drawing on a filled Easter Basket will be held at the end of the day. Donations of snack items are welcome and monetary donations may be made for the Recreation Department. The Whittier Congregational Church will hold Holy Week services at the church. Maundy Thursday service will begin with a potluck meal at 5 p.m. and includes a Lord’s Supper and Tenebrae Service in the evening. On Good Friday the Sanctuary will be open for Scripture and meditation from 1 p.m. Easter Sunday service begins at 9:30 a.m. with traditional worship and music for the day. Contact Rev. The United Baptist Church will hold a traditional Easter service on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. Refreshments and coffee will be offered in the lobby beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Sanctuary will be open on Good Friday for prayer and meditation from 1-3 p.m.
