Easton team places at state meet

Easton High School had an impressive showing at this year’s State Math Meet, held April 4 at the Augusta Civic Center. Easton placed fifth out of a field of 22 schools in their division. Three of the four schools ahead of Easton consisted of two academies and one private school.

TOWN RECOGNIZES CHIEF — The Town of Easton recently recognized outgoing Fire Chief Kim White for his 32 years of service as chief and 46 years total of dedicated service to the Easton Fire Department and the community. Prior to the meet, Easton won the Aroostook Small School division for the regular season, which consists of five separate meets. Individual awards were given to the following students:  Jake Flewelling, first place for seniors; Elise Allen, second place, seniors; Katelyn White, first place, juniors; Cecelia Ferris, third place, juniors; and Christopher Busse, third place, sophomores.

Happy Days update

The Happy Days Club met March 23 following a potluck picnic lunch with the following members: Annette Copeland, Marie Hewitt, Julia Allen, John Trask, Nina Trask, Ezalee Smith, Jackie Condon, Carrie Mason, Liana DeMerchant, Betty Brown, Ida Doak and guest Barbara Beals.  

The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, in the recreation room at the Manor. Pizza will be ordered for lunch. Please join the group and invite a friend.

Easter at New Song  

The Easton Sunrise Service will be held at New Song Church this year, 39 Station Rd., Easton.  Sunrise Service will start at 8 a.m., with a light breakfast from 9 to 9:45 a.m. The regular Resurrection service will begin at 10 a.m. at New Song Church or participants may go to a church of their choice.

Community Library

On Saturdays the Community Library will be held at the Easton High School Library and will feature a story time from 10 to 10:30 a.m., geared for toddlers/pre-K to grade 3. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Story time includes a picture book with an activity/color page to follow.

The library will be open to the community for patrons to utilize library services. Patrons may bring their own devices to access the Internet and will be asked to follow existing library rules/guidelines.   

This week’s dates include Wednesday, April 11, at the elementary school and Saturday, April 15, at the high school.
