CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department is inviting other local recreation departments to participate in the mat ball and wiffle ball tournaments planned for Tuesday, April 18 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.
Mat ball will be held at 9:30 a.m. and wiffle ball at 1 p.m.
Mat ball is similar to kickball. Mats are used as bases that allows for multiple runners on base at the same time. This fun and exciting game will keep participants moving. Wiffle ball is a variation of the sport of baseball, designed to be playing in confined areas. A perforated, lightweight plastic ball is used along with a long plastic bat.
For more information, call your local recreation department. The deadline to register for either or both activities is Saturday, April 15 at 4 p.m.
Also during vacation week, the walking track, gym and game room at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will be available Tuesday, April 18 through Saturday, April 22 for special hours.
The walking track is open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday; the gym is open 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, noon-9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday; and the game room is open noon-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday.
