LOWELL PAUL MCLAUGHLIN HODGDON – Lowell Paul McLaughlin, 85, passed away April 4, 2017, at Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born February 27, 1932, in Houlton, the son of Ralton and Nellie (Boutilier) McLaughlin.
Paul spent his early years in Dyer Brook. He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in 1949, Ricker Junior College in 1952 and Ricker College in 1957. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 spending most of his service time in Dachau, Germany. He worked for the state of Maine for 34 years in Public Assistance, Maine Youth Center, and Probation and Parole. He had 17 years with Cecile, which was an adventure as he never knew what to expect next. He enjoyed going to the Eagles Nest in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
He is survived by his fiancée, Cecile Ingraham of Hodgdon; his step children, Mary and Fred Burrill of Lakeville, Richard and Jane Mitchell of New Limerick and William Mitchell of Springfield; Cecile’s children, whom he considered his step-children, Walter James and Nancy Ingraham of Lompoc, CA, and Carol and Larry Gray of Bucksport; 8 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Mary (Cafarella) McLaughlin.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 9th, 2017, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, at St. Mary’s Visitation, Houlton, with Father Dave Raymond celebrant. A spring interment with full military honors will be in the Dyer Brook Cemetery.
