Five seek Ashland crowns

ASHLAND, Maine — The Ashland pageant will be held Saturday, April 29, at the Ashland District School, during which five young ladies will be crowned.

The pageant will begin at 2 p.m. and crowns will be awarded in five divisions: Miss Ashland, Junior Miss Ashland, Teen Miss Ashland, Pre-teen Miss Ashland and Little Miss Ashland.

Alexis Craig is in the running for Miss Ashland, and the current queen, Gabbie Wortman, will crown her successor.

Lacey Jandreau and Kaitlyn Dotson will compete in the Junior Miss contest, with 2016 Junior Miss Hailee Cunningham bidding farewell.

Danielle Dorr and Alexis Dotson will vie for Teen Miss, with 2016 Teen Miss Emilee Lothrop taking her final walk.

Samantha Nelson will participate for the Preteen Miss title, currently held by Michaela Carney.

Finally, Little Miss contestants Marleigh Spoto, Emma Coty and Izabelah Spoto will compete with the winner crowned by 2016 Little Miss Callie Cullins.

Tickets are $8 each; children 3 and under will be admitted free.

According to pageant organizers, contestants will be scored with 40 percent from interviews, which were held Sunday, March 26. Another 40 percent will come from the talent portion, 10 percent from the gown competition and the final 10 percent from casual wear for the little misses and physical fitness for all other contestants.
