She was born in Ashland on November 10, 1928, a daughter of Charles Percy and Margaret Mary Flinn Colbath.
She was educated at South School in Ashland before moving to Boston, where she worked for a resort hotel that transferred her to Lake George, New York. It was in Lake George that she met her husband, Harry Joseph Monette. Upon their marriage they resided in Mooers, New York, where they operated a dairy farm and raised five children. Her husband passed away in 1974, and she continued to reside in New York until 2003 when she returned to Ashland, there pursuing her love of painting. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, listening to music, and singing. The support and love of extended family and special friendships, both childhood and new, were precious to her. Social gatherings at the local Fish and Game Club brought her great enjoyment. Uncommon to young women of her time, Geraldine took flying lessons from 1940-1941. She was simply fascinated by flight and flying machines. On occasion she would reminiscence about the exhilaration of being at the controls of a biplane.
