PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Richard R. Maynard, 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his residence. He was born May 19, 1929, in Presque Isle, the son of Robert and Della (Brooker) Maynard. He was a graduate of PIHS, class of 1947.

Richard served honorably in the US Marine Corps in Korea. He retired from the US Post Office in 1986. He enjoyed this early retirement by traveling and playing golf with his wife Helen. Richard was an avid golfer and scored 2 holes in 1. Once in Presque and once while traveling in Arkansas. Richard was also an avid fisherman, and hunter. He enjoyed hunting with his son Bob and his grandsons. He was a member of the Shrine Oriental Band, member of the Garfield Chapter of Masons, and a member of the American Legion.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years Helen (Weaver) Maynard in 2001, brothers; Robert, Donald, Philip, a sister Charlotte, and his parents Robert and Della. He is survived by his beloved children; Robert and his wife Valerie of Mapleton, Della and her wife Marie of Portland, three grandsons of whom he was very proud; Brandon Raymond of Portland, Brad and Andrew Maynard of Mapleton, a sister Irene Griffith of Rhome, TX, a special niece Connie Juliar of Mankato, MN, a cousin Dana Brooker of St. Stephen, NB, Canada, and close friends Donna Downing and Leanne York.
