CARIBOU, Maine — The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a flood advisory for northeastern Aroostook County in northern Maine until 8:30 a.m. EDT Friday, May 5, 2017.

Lake levels have slowly risen over the past several days and water is encroaching on roads and into homes. More rain is expected beginning Friday morning and continuing through most of the weekend. Total rainfall amounts may range from 1 to 3 inches through Sunday.

People with property on the lakes of northern Aroostook County should stay informed on this evolving flooding threat.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
