Spring has tossed us a little curveball, or perhaps a knuckleball would be more appropriate. The golf course is in great ecological condition. The greens, tees and aprons have been mowed for play. Unfortunately the fairways and roughs are too damp to efficiently and safely get our equipment on them.
Two days of sun on Friday and Saturday brought many people out to enjoy the course, although it was a little sloppy. Rain on Sunday and Monday, but warmer weather later in the week will hopefully dry out the grounds. Here’s hoping for a good week.
The first tournament will be the Memorial on Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m. It will be a four-player scramble and entry fees will go to the Beautification Committee to add flowers and other amendments for your playing pleasure. Please call Ray at the club and have your team added to the list. Singles, we will put you together with a team.
Also, the men’s league sign-up sheet is posted in the Great Room. Stop in and sign up by the end of the month or call the clubhouse and we will put you on it. We plan to start in early June.
The junior golf program will start the last week of June after school is out. Call the clubhouse to sign up and get more info. This is a very successful program and an excellent chance to get your children a great start in their golf life.
The Ladies Association will have their Welcoming Dinner on Tuesday, May 23. Social time is 5:30 to 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at the Clubhouse. All members and friends make plans to attend.
The Lakeside Restaurant is open regular hours, Wednesday through Sunday. Mother’s Day we served a full house. All parties enjoyed a lovely meal and time with their families. Call Nancy at 694-9494 for your reservations.
