Houlton police charge Blaine woman with theft of motor vehicle

HOULTON, Maine — A 28-year-old Blaine woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a parked vehicle on Bangor Street.

According to Houlton Police Chief Tim DeLuca, a man parked his vehicle on Bangor Street around 5:07 p.m. Tuesday and when he returned a few moments later, it was missing.  Police did not identify the owner or the type of vehicle.

One of the responding officers spotted the suspect vehicle on Bangor Street in the area of the Houlton Water District and initiated a traffic stop, DeLuca reported.

Officer Matthew Quint questioned the operator, identified as Colleen M. Grinnell of Blaine, before arresting her on an outstanding arrest warrant on an unrelated charge of failing to appear in court, the chief said.

In addition, “an area surveillance camera was able to capture footage of the [vehicle] theft later confirming the suspect’s involvement,” DeLuca said.

Grinnell then also was charged with unauthorized taking or transfer, a Class B felony, and operating while license suspended or revoked, a Class E misdemeanor.

She taken to the Aroostook County Jail where she remained Wednesday afternoon.
