Scout Show to be held this weekend at Aroostook Centre Mall

PRESQUE ISLE — The North Star District Committee for the Boy Scouts of America invite everyone to attend the 2010 Scout Show on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Aroostook Centre Mall.
“All are welcome as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting in America,” said Kathy Peary, Cub Scout commissioner for the North Star District.
The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Boy Scout troops and Cub Scout packs from all over the county will be there to demonstrate Scout skills and fellowship with each other,” said Peary.
Peary said festivities are anticipated to begin at 11 a.m., with a parade around the mall with the National Guard Color Guard.
“The District Pinewood Derby race-off will begin at 1:30 p.m., next to Trader Joe’s. At 4 p.m., we will have our closing ceremony and award presentations, along with a drawing for an Old Town kayak in the food court,” she said.
As with past years’ events, Peary is expecting a good turnout.
