WESTFIELD, Maine — A farm tractor driver was not injured but a utility pole had to be replaced Wednesday after the tractor caught on some power lines and pulled them down, causing the pole to snap, according to police.
Randy Curry, 62, of Dyer Brook was southbound on a 2004 New Holland farm tractor, owned by Smith Farms of Westfield, when he attempted to make a left turn from Route 1 onto the Burleigh Road at about 9:30 Wednesday morning, Maine State Police reported.
The tractor struck utility lines, pulling them down and snapping the utility pole at its base, according to Trooper Nick Casavant.
Crews from both Emera and Fairpoint Communications responded to replace the pole and fix the wiring that had fallen across the road.
