STATE PARK HOSTS HUNDREDS
STATE PARK HOSTS HUNDREDS — The Maine State Park System is celebrating its 75th anniversary, with festivities planned at parks across the state throughout the coming year.
To mark the occasion, Aroostook State Park, the oldest park in the Maine system, kicked off the new year with Take It Outside on Saturday, Feb. 20, hosting a variety of activities and a free lunch for visitors. The program is designed to encourage individuals and families to take advantage of the many outdoor activities Maine has to offer. Those in attendance Saturday had the opportunity to snowshoe, ski, skate, slide, watch ice-cutting demonstrations, take dogsled rides, go on guided tours and more. The park was packed to the brim for the event, with hundreds gathered to enjoy the beautiful weather and fun festivities. Pictured in front coming down one of the most popular attractions, the snow slide, are Revily Dawson, of Presque Isle, with her granddaughter, Kennedy Griffin, of Caribou.
