CUMBERLAND, Maine — Hunter Flynn of Presque isle is among 13 high school seniors who have earned college scholarships from the Maine State Golf Association Scholarship Fund.

The scholars hail from all across the state and will be awarded $6,000 each over four years to pursue higher education. The MSGA Scholarship Fund was founded in 1950, and to date has awarded more than $1.6 million to deserving Maine students with a passion for the game of golf.

“There have been a lot of people over the years who have helped to make the MSGA Scholarship Fund what it is today — one of the largest scholarships given to Maine students by a non-profit organization,” Nancy Storey, MSGA’s executive director, said in a news release.

Flynn, who played on the golf team at Presque Isle High School for four years, was the Wildcats’ No. 1 golfer each of the past two seasons and qualified for the individual state tournament both times.

He is the son of Rob and Jennifer Flynn of Presque Isle.
