PERHAM, Maine — Bryce G. Johnston, 85, husband of Arlene J. (Espling) Johnston, passed away Friday morning, May 19, 2017, at his Perham home, following an extended illness. He was born July 29, 1931, in Perham, the son of Fred M. and Madeline E. (Blackstone) Johnston.
He attended school in Perham and was a graduate of the Caribou High School. Bryce served his country with the United States Army from January 1955 to December 1956, and was married to Arlene J. Espling on December 11, 1975. Bryce had been self employed as a logger and woodlot owner for a number of years and also worked periodically for the Town of Perham Highway Department. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker and a wonderful teacher.
In addition to his parents, Bryce was predeceased by one son, Michael Lovely; and one sister Carol Lovely. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Perham; two sons, Bryce Johnston II of Perham and Carl Johnston and his wife, Sherri, of Washburn; one daughter, Wendy Lovely and her fiance, Jody Hewitt, of Mapleton; one sister, Judy Lunney of Westfield; three grandchildren, Brandon J. Lovely, Anthony Lovely, both of Mapleton, and Haley Johnston of Washburn; one great-grandchild, Emma Lovely of Mapleton; several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bryce’s Life at his home, 387 Tangle Ridge Road, Perham, Saturday May 27, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Ron Rosser officiating. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will take place after the service.
