AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — Journalists and the people who layout the print versions of the paper participated in an in-house photography contest at your local paper. The photography contest centered on the concept of “frame” in an image. Houlton Pioneer Times journalist Joseph Cyr took this image of the town’s historic clock tower. He said, “I have photographed this clock tower a number of times over the years, so I wanted to come up with something different for this image. All of our photographers were challenged to come up with framing a photograph. I chose to take the direct approach and use a mirrored frame. I visited Gina Parent at the Antique Emporium and she had this wonderful old mirror with intricate carvings hanging on the wall. I asked her to hold the mirror so that I could get the clock tower reflected inside the frame and she was happy to oblige. I was thrilled to see that this image was selected by my peers for this contest.”
