JULIE ANN WHITED PORTLAND – Julie Ann Whited, 42, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a year-long battle with leiomyosarcoma cancer.
Julie was born in Houlton, Maine, on January 9, 1975, daughter of John and Barbara (Brimley) Whited. Raised in Hodgdon, Julie was an astute student who focused on completing her academic requirements. She also was very athletic, participating on her school’s basketball and softball teams. Julie graduated from Hodgdon High School and attained her undergraduate degree from New Hampshire College. Incredibly driven, Julie continued her studies, earning her MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.
Following college, Julie moved to the Portland area where she made her home. In Portland, Julie really came into her own, developing a close circle of friends and began her short, but full, life. She was an active member of the local Junior League, and enjoyed running, golfing and numerous other outdoor activities.
Julie was an outstanding Project Manager for Tyler Technologies. Throughout her career with Tyler, she enjoyed traveling to consult with her clients on the products and services her company offered, and earned a reputation for her strong work ethic, integrity, honesty and kindness.
While Julie focused intensely on her work, she equally valued and nurtured close friendships. She had an adventurous and outgoing personality and thoroughly enjoyed traveling, attending concerts and spending time with her many friends, too abundant to name individually. With her friends by her side, she lived life to the fullest and traveled throughout Europe and Asia. Julie’s family will forever be grateful to Julie’s friends for the network of care, devotion and incredible support they provided Julie over the last year. Julie fought her illness like a warrior, but she wouldn’t have been able to do it without her family and friends by her side, offering loving and caring support.
Julie is survived by her parents, John and Barbara (Brimley) Whited of Hodgdon; brothers, Jeffrey Whited of Old Town, and Mark and wife Terri of Gardiner; niece, Joslyn (Josie) and nephew, Thomas also of Gardiner. Julie is also survived by several aunts and uncles: William Whited of Falmouth; James Whited and wife Betty of South Portland; Marie Whited of South Portland; Henry Whited and wife Birgitta of Rhode Island; Jo Anna Colby and husband Steve of Alaska; Sally Higgins of Maryland; Richard Brimley and wife Hazel of Connecticut; and Kathleen Sawyer and husband David of Florida.
