Fort Fairfield Tigers continue to roll

The Fort Fairfield Tigers’ baseball team is the only undefeated team in northern Maine for classes A, B, C and D.

Fort Fairfield has been most of its games by lopsided scores and are now 11-0 overall after Monday’s shutout over Madawaska. The Tigers also handed losses to LCS/MSSM, Fort Kent and East Grand last week.

The Presque Isle Wildcats won three road games, sweeping a doubleheader in Bangor over John Bapst last Tuesday, May 16 and then nipping Fort Kent Thursday, May 18, 10-9.

Ashland 15, Washburn 2 — At Ashland, Kyle Beaulier knocked in three runs with a two-run home run in the first and an RBI single in the second as the Hornets eased to the victory. Steven Bellanceau played for the first time after suffering from a broken leg prior to the season. He came out strong in his first appearance with a three-run home run in the third inning for Ashland (5-4). Carver Pendexter led the Beavers (0-8) with a two-run homer.

Fort Fairfield 11, Madawaska 0 — At Fort Fairfield, Ryan Player’s two-run home run led the Tigers past Madawaska. Jesse Helstrom singled in a run for the Tigers, the only undefeated team in the North region in all classes with their 11-0 mark. The Owls fell to 0-10.

Central Aroostook 10, LCS/MSSM 7 — In Limestone, the Panthers moved to 6-4 on the season by avenging the May 9 loss. The Eagles fell to 4-7. Individual highlights were not reported.

Fort Fairfield 10, East Grand 0 — The Tigers won handily over the Vikings in Fort Fairfield Saturday.

East Grand 14, Washburn 4 — In Danforth Friday, the Vikings earned the 10-run win over the Beavers in a make-up contest.

Fort Fairfield baseball 12, Fort Kent 2 — Carter Bruce struck out eight Warrior batters as the Tigers remained undefeated with another easy win on Thursday. Jon Bernard and Ryan Player each doubled and singled for Fort Fairfield, now 9-0. Nate Michaud, Aaron Plourde and Jared Soucy had the only hits for 3-6 Fort Kent.

LCS/MSSM baseball 23, Washburn 5 — Game details were not reported.

Ashland 17, Madawaska 3 — At Ashland last Wednesday, Kyle Beaulier laced two triples, a single and collected four RBIs as the Hornets beat the Owls in the first game of a doubleheader. Baily Clark struck out 13 for Ashland. Drew Doughty added three singles for the winners.

Ashland 23, Madawaska 2 — The Hornets also won the second game of the doubleheader. Details of this game were not reported.

Central Aroostook 21, Washburn 1 — At Washburn, the visiting Panthers improved to 5-4 with the win. Washburn fell to 0-5. Individual results were not reported.

Presque Isle 10, Fort Kent 9 — At Fort Kent, the Wildcats improved to 6-6 on the season with the one-run win last Wednesday. Jonah Hudson drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and Connor DeMerchant led PI with three hits.

Presque Isle 10, John Bapst 9; Presque Isle 9, John Bapst 6 — The Presque Isle baseball team pulled off key wins over John Bapst in both ends of a doubleheader played in Bangor Tuesday, May 16.

The Wildcats trailed the first game after four innings, but tied it with two runs in the fifth and took the lead with one in the sixth. R.J. Gross came on in relief of starter Hudson in the sixth and tossed a pair of scoreless innings. PI overcame poor defense (nine errors) by out hitting the Crusaders, 13-7. Bartlett led the way with four hits and three RBIs and Gross had three hits and two RBIs.

Gross was the game two starter and went five innings before giving way to Demerchant. Gross and Hudson had two hits each and Torey Levesque singled and drove in two runs.

Fort Fairfield 11, LCS/MSSM 1 — The Tigers recorded an easy win over the Eagles in Fort Fairfield. Malcolm Langner and Colby Langner paced the offense with two singles each and Dawson Watson had two RBIs on a bases-loaded single. Andy Whitman and Travis Hatfield had the lone LCS/MSSM hits.

Ashland 15, Washburn 2 — At Ashland Monday, Shelby Stoltz hit a bases-clearing triple to lead Ashland (4-4) past Washburn (0-10) in a game shortened to five innings due to the 12-run rule. Willow Hall tripled and singled for the Hornets, who scored in all five innings, including five in the third. Samantha Churchill, Jacquilin West and Rachel Driscoll each singled for Washburn.

LCS/MSSM 5, Central Aroostook 2 — At Limestone Monday, senior pitcher Delaney Rossignol allowed just two hits and struck out 11 as LCS/MSSM (7-3) defeated Central Aroostook of Mars Hill. Victoria Eichorn singled twice and knocked in a run for the Eagles while Taylor LaBreck notched an RBI single. Breann Bradbury homered and Maci Beal doubled for the Panthers (4-6).

Madawaska 11, Fort Fairfield 3 — At Fort Fairfield Monday, Jenna Dugal collected four hits as Madawaska rolled to its sixth win against three losses and crept up to fourth place in the Class D North Heal Point standings. Dugal scattered five hits in earning the pitching win for the 11-3 Owls. Hunter St. Pierre paced 3-8 Fort Fairfield with two singles and two RBIs.

East Grand 15, Fort Fairfield 11 — The Vikings won at Fort Fairfield Saturday. Individual results were not reported.

East Grand 6, Washburn 1 — The Beavers are still looking for their first win as the Vikings won Friday’s game in Danforth. Individual results were not reported.

LCS/MSSM 18, Washburn 1 — The Eagles ran their winning streak to six and the Beavers in Thursday’s matchup in Washburn. Labreck had four hits, including a triple and a double, while Lasha Butler doubled and singled twice. Rossignol did not surrender a hit in notching the pitching victory for the 6-2 Eagles.

Fort Kent 10, Fort Fairfield 5 — Game details were not reported from Thursday’s game in Fort Fairfield.

Ashland 6, Madawaska 5 — At Ashland last Wednesday, Shelby Stolze tripled as Ashland swept Madawaska in a doubleheader. The losses were the first of the year for the Owls. Olivia Tardie and Willow Hall both hit a pair of singles for the Hornets. Jenna Dugal singled three times for Madawaska.

Ashland 19, Madawaska 9 — In the first game of the doubleheader, Cami Deabay recorded nine strikeouts to lead Ashland to the win. Amber Chasse tripled in two runs and singled twice while Morgan Doughty knocked in three runs with a triple. For Madawaska, Desiree Belanger singled twice and tripled. Keri Hebert added two singles.

Central Aroostook 16, Washburn 3 — At Washburn last Wednesday, Caitlyn Harris blasted a grand slam to lead the Panthers past Washburn. Keara McCrum and Annika Nicholas both singled twice for CA. Kassie Farley hit two singles for Washburn (0-7).

Presque Isle 23, Fort Kent 12 — At Fort Kent, Kayla Saucier’s grand slam in the first inning set the tone for the game as the Wildcats cruised past Fort Kent. Saucier also had two singles for Presque Isle (6-6). Savannah Rodriguez also doubled twice and drove in two runs.

John Bapst 6, Presque Isle 5 — In the first of two played in Bangor, the Wildcats made a late comeback that fell just short. PI trailed 6-1 entering the seventh and put a few hits together to get to within a run, but that was as close as the Wildcats came. Faith Leavitt surrendered just three earned runs while going all seven innings on the mound.

Presque Isle 17, John Bapst 7 — The second game went to the Wildcats as they took the lead early and cruised. Sydney Thompson pitched well in the win. Presque Isle, at 5-6, is in 10th place in the Class B North standings after the split. After Wednesday’s game against Fort Kent, the Wildcats are off until May 25 when they host Houlton in what will be a point-worthy game.

LCS/MSSM 15, Fort Fairfield 8 — The Eagles avenged an early-season loss and extended their winning streak to five games with the win in Fort Fairfield. Labreck tripled and singled twice and Butler also had three hits as the Eagles took the lead for good in the fifth inning. Rossignol was the winning pitcher and Sara Edgecomb took the loss for the Tigers. Makaila Beck had a pair of doubles and four RBIs for FF.
