HOULTON, Maine — Josh McLaughlin has always prided himself on meeting his customers’ needs in the construction business.
Now that business also extends to landscaping supplies and designs as J. McLaughlin Construction LLC has added a bulk landscaping section at his 174 Bangor St. location.
“The last couple of years, we have had numerous people inquire about the different types of materials we offer, but they really don’t need a full dump-truck load,” McLaughlin said. “We have worked closely with Pleasant View Tree Farm and Chadwick’s Florist and Aroostook Milling, helping people with their designs. This winter I decided there was a need for supplies for the do-it-yourself folks.”
McLaughlin’s new expansion features a variety of bulk mulch selections from black, brown, and red bark mulch to green and brown rubber mulch. It also offers sand and various sizes of natural and crushed stones, along with crusher dust and loam.
“We have had people stop in with half a dozen five-gallon buckets that they have filled up, and we have had people request whole dumptruck loads,” he said. “Any quantity, as long as we can measure it, we can sell it.”
The landscape supply center will be open 3-7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, and during the months of May and June, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays. Local delivery service is available for a small fee.
