ACCU announce scholarship recipient

AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — The Aroostook Chapter of Credit Unions held their 10th Annual Financial Fitness Fair on April 27, 2017 at Loring Job Corp for all invited high school eleventh grade students.

The Chapter’s Scholarship Committee announced the recipient of the 2016 Financial Fitness Fair attendees at this year’s fair during the orientation period.

The organization selected Abigail Gonneville from Madawaska High School from over 50 applicants who submitted their scholarship application to the committee in 2016.

Gonneville must successfully complete her first semester of college and enroll in a second semester in order to receive her $1,000 scholarship from the chapter.

Gonneville is the daughter of John and Janet Gonneville and is planning on attending Bowdoin College in the fall.

The ACCU presents the annual fair to students in order to highlight the importance of a healthy financial balance between spending and saving and the importance of budgeting in a post college scenario.

The chapter invites all eleventh grade students from all Aroostook schools to participate in a half day event at Loring Job Corp in Limestone.

Schools that participated in the 2017 fair included the following: Ashland, Caribou, Central Aroostook, East Grand, Easton, Ft. Fairfield, Ft. Kent, Greater Houlton Christian Academy, Hodgdon, Houlton, Loring Job Corp students, Limestone, Madawaska, Presque Isle, Van Buren, Washburn and Wisdom (St. Agatha).
