Students and staff of Caribou's Hilltop Elementary School gathered outside for a photo on Thursday, June 8, to mark the closing of the facility at the end of the school year. The building will be redeveloped as a senior living center. Staffers wore T-shirts that read, "Hilltop is Awesome" while students wore shirts saying "I attended Hilltop" to commemorate the school's final year. Beginning next fall, staff and students from Hilltop will attend either Teague Park Elementary or Caribou Middle School until the city can build a new $50 million pre-kindergarten-8 facility funded by the state Department of Education.
