CARIBOU, Maine — Pines Health Services announced on June 8 that urologist John W. Karod, MD, has joined their medical team.

He has established a reputation as a high-quality, compassionate physician whose focus is on his patients. Dr. Karod looks forward to bringing an expanded scope of urology services to our patients in The County.” said Jim Davis, Pines CEO.
Karod’s focus areas are the treatment of urinary incontinence, stone disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). His current practice also includes general adult urology, pediatric urology and routine office procedures including cystoscopy, collagen injection and vasectomies.
A Maine native, Karod completed his internship and residency in the division of urology at Penn-State Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania. Prior to his arrival to The County, he practiced urology at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine, for 16 years.
In his leisure time, he enjoys biking, spending time outdoors, and just recently obtained his fisherman’s license for his lobster skiff. In addition, he holds a pilot license and enjoys flying in and around Aroostook County.
Karod resides in Caribou, where he has a wife and two daughters.
He will schedule surgery and plan cases in cooperation with the Cary Medical Center operating room team. He began seeing patients at Pines Urology, which is located in the lower level of the Caribou Health Center, on Tuesday, June 6.
