CONCORD, NH – Sylvia “Dawn” (Tufts) Smith, 71, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Concord Visiting Nurse Association Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Westfield, on March 9, 1939, the daughter of Dana V. and Gwendolyn M. (Berryman) Tufts. She was raised in Westfield and was a 1957 graduate of Presque Isle High School.
She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, and spending time on the computer as well as sharing time and providing assistance to her many local friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Dana; and her sisters, Helen and Carolyn.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick L. Smith of Concord, NH; her sisters, Joyce Hawes of Essex Junction, VT, and Gayle Manning of Tuscaloosa, AL; a brother, Jerry Tufts of Lampasas, TX; four children, Robyn Wironen and her husband, Alan of Topsham, ME, Kimberly S. Alpaugh and her husband, Gary of Watertown, MA, Scott A. Smith of San Diego, CA, Eric S. Smith and his wife, Dana of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, William, Rachel, Kiley, Morgan, Shannon and Allison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Dawn’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Payson Cancer Center, 250 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301 or the Concord Visiting Nurse Association Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301.
