Don’t discontinue video training
To the editor:
It has come to my attention that the student program Viking Video Productions is closing down. To tell you the truth I am furious about this, I was a student in that program and I loved it.
Before I joined Viking Video I was searching for something I could be passionate about. I was a bored student working in the boring core classes such as English, history, health, etc. but when the year in high school came that I could take vocational classes I finally found a reason to like school! It gave me a reason to get up every day and something I could find passion in.
Before I joined Viking Video, I was not one for contests (apart from trading card game tournaments) because I was afraid of failure, but Viking Video taught me teamwork and to be confident in my skills. With my training in Viking Video I entered Skills USA State Competition with one of my fellow students and Amanda and I won bronze together. My second year I didn’t win a medal but I still loved being there. My third year (I stayed on another year to finish up some unfinished business and took a third year of VV) I took on Skills USA and won gold! I then took on Nationals that summer and won gold again!
If it weren’t for Viking Video Productions, I wouldn’t have had the fun I had with those who became like a family to me and I wouldn’t have learned what I did in order to do what I want to do in life. So please to those wanting Viking Video to close down, I beg you do not close it down and let others in the area who desire to go into video get proper training.
