FORT KENT, Maine – The University of Maine at Fort Kent Student Nurses Organization (SNO) will host a run and walk race on Saturday, May 5 to benefit the SNO organization. Race time is set for 10 a.m. and is open to all age groups. The race consists of four different categories: a 5K and 10K run and also a 5K and 10K walk. The fee for the race is $10.
Race-day registration and number pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the UMFK Sports Center. Early registrants will receive a race T-shirt. Participants will race on a flat, fast course on the Heritage Trail. The course does include a few road crossings.
Racers will compete in eight different age groups: ages 14 and under; ages 15-19; ages 20-29; ages 30-39; ages 40-49; ages 50-59; ages 60-69; and 70 and older. The awards ceremony will begin at 11:15 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top runner overall along, with the top two runners in each age division. An award also will be presented to the fastest time among walkers as well.
Door prizes will be raffled at the end of the event. In addition, SNO will offer free blood pressure screening for the public and participants from 9 a.m.-noon.
