    PORTAGE LAKE and Plant City, FLA –  Mary Louise (Gallupe) Bishop, 80, died Monday, April 23, 2007 at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born in Fort Fairfield on March 7, 1927, the daughter of Asa T. and Margaret (Dorsey) Gallupe.
    Mary graduated 3rd in her class in 1944 from Fort Fairfield High School and continued her education at a business school in Bangor. She married Richard J. Bishop on Valentine’s Day February 14, 1946.  She worked as a secretary and an optometric assistant. Mary loved nature, loved to cook, and was an avid reader. Mary and Dick spent their winters in Florida starting in 1986. They enjoyed square and round dancing, and playing golf. Mary was co-founder of the Northeast Audubon Society, member of the National Ski Patrol, the Spudshufflers in Presque Isle, and the Portage Hills Country Club.
    She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Thomas, step grandson Keith Meibaum, and a nephew John T. Watson. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Richard “Dick”of Portage Lake, a son Richard “Dick” Jr. and his wife Terri of Plant City, Fl., two daughters and their husbands; Peggy and Stephen Gudreau of Mapleton, Jayne and Paul Lundwall of Milford, N.H., a brother Gary Gallupe and his wife Lillian of  Belleair, Fl., two sisters and their husbands; Carol and Jerome Clair  of Brewer, Mona and Jack Watson of Fort Fairfield. A sister-in-law Polly Gallupe of Clearwater, Fl. 4 grandchildren; Chris and Doug Bishop, James and Alex Lundwall, two step grandchildren John Meibaum, and June Sumner, 5 step great-grandchildren Zecariah and Logan Meibaum, Noel Farley, Rebecca and Richard Peterson, several nieces and nephews.
    A graveside service will be held in the month of June at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
