PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Aroostook Aspirations Initiative has announced the 2017 class of Gauvin Scholars.
This year, AAI welcomed 23 students from schools throughout Aroostook County. Ten Scholars will attend Northern Maine Community College , nine will attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle and four will attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
AAI’s Executive Director, Kristen Wells, said she is “thrilled about this new group of students” and the wide range of majors in which the Scholars plan to pursue careers.
“It has been a great month meeting with the new 2017 Gauvin Scholars and their families,” Wells said.
“I can’t wait to bring them all together with the 2016 Gauvin Scholars during our annual Scholar training weekend in July. Right from the start we all have one important quality in common — our love for Aroostook County. It’s my job to help them to complete a degree and build their futures here,” Wells said.
