CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Northern Maine Regional Recreation and Parks Association track and field meet beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at Caribou High School.
This meet, open to girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 15, will include participants from all over Aroostook County, including Houlton, Mars Hill, Easton, Presque Isle, Washburn, Fort Fairfield, Van Buren, Caribou, Ashland, Woodland, Madawaska and Limestone.
Youngsters will participate in a variety of events in their particular age division (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15). Running events include distances of 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1,600 meters and 4×100-meter relays.
Field events are the softball throw and the standing long jump.
Participants who place top four in their respective events qualify for the Maine Recreation and Parks Association state meet, which will be held at Cameron Stadium in Bangor on Tuesday, July 11.
