LIMESTONE, Maine — Members of the Limestone Board of Selectmen ended up going to a secret ballot before selecting Steven Beaulieu to serve as their chairman on June 21.
During their annual organizational meeting at the Town Office, the five selectmen chose between Beaulieu and Greg Ward by each writing their pick on a piece of paper and handing it to Town Manager Fred Ventresco.
The result was three votes for Beaulieu and two for Ward, who subsequently was selected unanimously to be vice chair of the board.
Limestone’s board has the same line-up as last year, as incumbents Tom Albert and Fred Pelletier were re-elected with a respective 136 and 119 votes during the June 13 municipal election.
Limestone residents also narrowly rejected RSU 39’s budget request by a 119 to 111 vote and approved the $50M state bond referendum for research projects by a vote of 141 to 89.
