CASTLE HILL — The Maine State Police are investigating a home invasion at a residence on the State Road that occurred over the weekend.
“Trooper Todd Stetson of the Maine State Police is investigating a home invasion that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 6, on the State Road in Castle Hill,” said Sgt. Brian Harris, MSP.
Harris said according to the homeowners, Lloyd and Betty Ellis, unknown suspects forced their way into the home, breaking in the front door.
“Mrs. Ellis, age 75, awoke to the noise of someone breaking in and saw a person in her home. She confronted the person who shoved her and ran out of the house,” said Harris.
Stetson responded to the home, along with Harris and Detective Dale Keegan and officers from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and Presque Isle Police Department.
“A search was conducted of the area by Trooper Stetson and the other officers, including Presque Isle PD’s K-9, Hunter and his handler, Officer Kevin Schumacher, but the perpetrator(s) was not located,” said Harris.
The investigation is ongoing, with several leads being developed and evidence processed at the scene, said Harris.
