Limestone 4th of July parade draws large crowd

LIMESTONE, Maine — Cars, trucks, and people lined each side of Main Street in Limestone for the town’s July 4 parade.

Channel X Radio provided live coverage and music before the 2 p.m. parade, which began with an a capella rendition of the national anthem sung by Limestone resident and entrepreneur Julie Weston.

The parade itself featured local members of the fire and police departments along with tall clowns, pageant queens, Boy Scouts, and supporters of other local organizations, such as the United Veterans of Maine and the Brian’s Ride Cancer Fund.

Limestone’s Independence Day celebrations began on June 28, with an open firehouse visit for children and families, a strawberry shortcake festival, and nearly 30 more events leading up to the big parade.

Those who stayed afterward were treated to concessions, games, and music at Albert E Michaud park, music from DJ Jake Ball, and 9 p.m. fireworks launched on the hill off the Grand Falls road.
