    Dempster, Kenneth, 86, CARIBOU, June 6, 2010, at Presque Isle.  Friends may visit with the family 9-11 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Funeral Home followed by a celebration of his life at 1 p.m., at the home of Douglas Bailey. Arrangements are in the care of Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.


 

    CARIBOU – Kenneth Dempster, 86, died June 6, 2010, at Presque Isle. He was born in Caribou, August 3, 1923, the son of the late Harry and Ophelia (True) Dempster. Ken was proud of his 52 years of employment at Caribou Scrap Iron Co. He began there as a water boy and worked his way up to become the manager of the company. He was well respected by many for his fair barter and friendship there. Ken will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer helpful advice. Ken loved cars, boxing, fishing, a good game of horseshoes, NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends.
    Surviving in addition to his wife of over 58 years, Alice (Larrabee) Dempster of Caribou are his children, Brenda Bailey of Presque Isle, Charlene Williams and her companion, Mayo Perez of Smithfield, Kim Bailey of Presque Isle, Joyce Boulier and her companion, Bernard Brown, of Presque Isle, Kendall Bailey of Presque Isle, Kermit Bailey and his wife, Rachel of Bangor and Douglas Bailey and his companion, Lisa Charette of Presque Isle; one brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Maxine Dempster of Presque Isle; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Nettie and Carl Browning of Texas, Jean Stubbs of Presque Isle and Avis of Pa.; his grandchildren, Jackie, Tracy, John, Christopher, Doug II, Sara, Erin and Bryce; great-grandchildren, Lacy, Elizabeth and Nevaeh; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dempster was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth and a brother, Merle.
    Friends may visit with the family 9 – 11a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Following the visitation all are invited to attend a celebration of Ken’s life and continued fellowship and refreshments, beginning at 1 p.m., at the home of Douglas Bailey, 515 Caribou Road, Presque Isle.
