(Nathan) Richard Akely, 73, died of natural causes, June 27, 2010, at a Horizon Health care in Fresno, Calif. He was born on August 1, 1936, in Mars Hill, the son of Nathan and Goldie Akeley.
He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Akeley of Berkeley, CA; his daughter-in-law, Darlene Akeley of Mapleton; wife of his deceased son, Stephen Akeley; and his first wife, Connie Akeley of Fresno, CA. He is also held in fond regard by the children and grandchildren from a previous marriage of his second wife, Donna (Fritz) Akeley, who preceded him in death.
Richard’s cremated remains will be sent to two locations: one in Oregon and one in Aroostook County. Local memorial services have not been planned, but may be announced at a later date.
