The 2017 edition of Easton Field Days featured activities for all ages.

The festival week opened with a boys’ high school basketball tournament with Hodgdon, Fort Fairfield, Mars Hill and Easton teams competing. Congratulations to Fort Fairfield High School for winning the tournament.
Throughout the entire week the Little School House was open for visitation and reminiscing.
Over the past year the committee and volunteers have completed many projects.
Mad Science of Maine presented “Up Up and Away” July 6 in the high school gym. It was a high-energy, interactive performance of spectacular science experiments, entertaining for all ages.
The Aroostook Medical Center organized a 5K race/walk that benefited the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. Awards will be presented to all winners.
The Francis Malcolm Science Center presented a planetarium show, “Nine Planets and Counting,” which took us on a tour and exploration of the variety of worlds that populate the solar system. We examined individual planets and compared the giant gassy worlds to the rocky “midget” planets. The event was sponsored by Cary Medical Center’s Healthy You Program.
The Kiwanis Club presented their annual barbeque and the classes of 1996 and 1997 enjoyed time reminiscing during their class reunion on July 7. A cribbage tournament was also held.
Saturday, July 8, featured many events, and despite the rainy forecast everything went on as scheduled. A community breakfast honoring veterans was sponsored by the United Baptist Church. An entertaining parade took place down Center Road, and vendors, exhibitors and amusements were around for all to enjoy at Easton Elementary School. Activities included bounce houses, face painting, ballooning, clowns and musical entertainment with “Tim the Tune Man” and the EHS band. New this year was a World War II display with authentic vehicles and equipment.
Other activities thorough the day included the Little School open house/ice-cream social, the 25th annual Golf Tournament at West Ridge Golf Course, a gospel concert with Nicole Sponberg and a community barbeque and music in the park with Heath Bartley. A fireworks show closed out the day.

Community Library
On Saturdays the Community Library will be held at the Easton High School Library from 9:30 a.m. until noon, with story time for kids pre-K to grade 3 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.
The library will be open to the community Saturday, July 22.
Easton Recreation Schedule
Wednesday, July 19 — Field trip to Playland Adventures in Brewer. The bus departs at 8 a.m. and will return by 5 p.m. The cost is $14 for indoor and outdoor activities; please send exact change. Children should have socks, Rec T-shirt, swimsuit, towel and their own labeled sunscreen. A picnic will be provided. Concessions require extra money. Open to grades 1 and up; younger kids welcome with an adult.
Major League finals: To be announced.
Thursday, July 20 –– Free day camp at the hall from 9-12. Breakfast and lunch will be served. It’s water day, come prepared to get wet. Open to grades 1 and up; younger children welcome with an adult.
Free swim trip to the Fort Fairfield Pool from 12:30-3:15. Must be able to swim to attend without an adult.
Science Camp from 12:30-2:30 at the hall. Pre-registration was required.
Minor league game at Washburn at 4 p.m. Players should be in Washburn at the field by 3:45.
Friday, July 21 — Swim lessons from 9:30-11:15 at the Fort Fairfield Pool. Bus departs from/returns to the hall.
Playgroup at the hall from 11:15-12:30.
Sunday, July 23 — Softball games at 5:30 and 6:30.
Monday, July 24 — Free day camp at the hall from 9-12. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Visit to the Fire Department. Open to grades 1 and up; younger children welcome with an adult.

Tuesday, July 25 — Free day camp at the hall from 9-12. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Visit to the school library will include a guest reader and some playground time. Open to grades 1 and up; younger children welcome with an adult.

T-ball from 6-7 on the back baseball field.
