FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Thad LaVallee of Sharon, Massachusetts. continued his domination of the Spud Cycle Classic 25-mile bicycle race over the weekend.
LaVallee won for the seventh time, completing the Sunday, July 16, race in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 50 seconds. He came in just ahead of Andrew Bouchard and Gregg Collins, both of Caribou.
LaVallee was first in the 40-49 age division, while Bouchard led the way for 30-39 year-olds and Collins was tops in the 50-59 age group.
The first female to cross the finish line was Julie Bouchard of Caribou, whose time was 1:18:20.
Other age division winners were Christian Malancourt (16-29 male), Jan Newhouse (60 and over male) and Sarah Beaulieu (16-29 female).
The race, held as part of the Maine Potato Blossom Festival, featured a field of 24 cyclists.
