MORRIS COLE, MONTICELLO – Morris Cole, 85, died July 16, 2017 in Auburn with his family by his side. He was born June 11, 1932 in Monticello, the son of Perry and Faye (Codrey) Cole. Morris graduated from Bridgewater Classical Institute, was the founder and first Fire Chief in Monticello, belonged to the Monticello Grange, State and National, and was a Road Foreman for the Town of Monticello.
He enjoyed camping and owned his own trucking company with his wife who also drove truck. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Bell) Cole of Monticello; two children: Duane and his wife, Heeok, Cole of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Charlotte Carr of Litchfield; two grandchildren: April and her husband, Kyle, Bartman and Gregory Cole and Vanessa Jacobsen; great-granddaughters: Lillith Cole and Mercedes Jacobsen and a sister, Ida and her husband, Charles Upton of Monticello. He was predeceased by his parents.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with a funeral service being held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20. The interment will be held at Jewell Cemetery in Monticello.
