CHRISTOPHER A. MORAN, HOULTON – Christopher A. Moran passed away Thursday July 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born September 14, 1962, in Houlton, the son of Percy Moran Sr. and Gertrude (Moulton) Moran. Chris grew up in Houlton and attended local schools.
Chris was very civic minded and was a member of the North Star Search & Rescue, and a volunteer for the Linneus Fire Department. He worked in many capacities at the Houlton Band of Maliseets, including maintenance for the Maliseet Indian Housing, safety officer, youth department, and tribal enrollment committee. He enjoyed music, cb radios, and listening to scanners. Chris was a foster parent and played Santa Claus at many area events. He will be remembered as always being happy, never complaining, and always willing to help anyone.
He is survived by three siblings, Richard Moran of California, Linda Estabrook and her special friend Joe Raymond of Houlton, Linda Raymond and her husband Tim of Houlton, two sons, Christopher “Little Chris” Moran of Houlton, Dustin Murphy-Moran of Fort Fairfield, a granddaughter Lyric Parady of Fort Fairfield, his fiance Lillian Dow of Woodstock, NB, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Percy “Sonny” Moran Jr., Herman Moran, Phil Moran, and a sister Mary “Patty” Patricia Moran.
Friends may call at 1 p.m. Wednesday July 26, 2017 at the Dunn Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with Deacon Al Burleigh officiating. Interment will follow at the Maliseet Tribal Cemetery, Houlton. The family invites relatives and friends to a time of refreshment at St. Mary of the Visitation Parish Center after the interment.
