WASHBURN, Maine — The Fort Kent girls’ soccer team has been busy this summer, with late afternoon drills and scrimmages.
The team traveled to take on Washburn Thursday in a scrimmage, which the Warriors won, 4-1.
Coach Robby Nadeau is starting the season with 25 players, between the varsity and sub varsity squads. The mix of new players and experienced players may once again prove successful for the Warriors.
Last season, the girls’ finished 7-5, and were seventh in Class C North. Fort Kent lost to Houlton, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round.
Both the Warrior girls’ and boys’ soccer teams open this regular season, Aug. 22 at Fort Fairfield. The Fort Kent home openers are set for Aug. 25, when the Caribou Vikings visit the Warriors’ home turf.
The first St. John Valley rivalry game for Fort Kent comes on Sept. 12, when the teams travel to take on the Owls of Madawaska.
