PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Pre-paid registrations for the Aug. 14 to Sept. 23, 2017, session of swimming classes, to be held at Gentile Hall on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus, are now being accepted.
The deadline to sign up is Aug. 11. There are openings in the following classes:
Parent/Toddler (6 months to 3 years), which requires an adult to be in the water, meets Tuesday, 9-9:25 a.m.; Thursday, 6-6:25 p.m. or Saturday, 9-9:25 a.m.
PRE 1 (ages 3-5, not comfortable in the water) is held Friday from 9-9:25 a.m.
PRE 2 (ages 3-5, comfortable in the water) classes are Tuesday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.; 6-6:25 p.m.; and 6:30-6:55 p.m.; Thursday, 4-4:25 p.m.; 5-5:25 p.m.; 5:30-5:55 p.m.; and 6:30-6:55 p.m.; Friday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.; or Saturday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.
PRE 3 (ages 3-5, swimmers) meets Thursday, 4:30-4:55 p.m. or Saturday, 9-9:25 a.m.
Learn to Swim 1-2 is for the beginner (age 6-12) who is comfortable in the water but not swimming. This level has openings Tuesday, 5-5:50 p.m.; Thursday, 5-5:50 p.m.; or Saturday, 10-10:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 3-4 classes is for those aged 6-12 who are able to swim on their belly and back are Tuesday, 3-3:50 p.m. and 5-5:50 p.m.; Wednesday, 5-5:50 p.m.; Thursday, 4-4:50 p.m. and 6-6:50 p.m. or Saturday, 9:30-10:20 a.m.
Learn to Swim 5-6 classes for aged 6-12 swimmers to work on stroke improvement take place Tuesday, 4-4:50 p.m.; Thursday, 3-3:50 p.m.; or Saturday, 10:30-11:20 a.m.
Adapted lessons for children with autism, which requires an adult in the water, has an opening Thursday from 3-3:50 p.m.
There is an opening for adult lessons Wednesdays from 9-9:50 a.m.
Shallow water exercise classes are held Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. Deep water exercise classes take place Monday at 4-4:50 p.m. and Wednesday at 10-10:50 a.m.
Swimming lessons have a $25 fee per participant. Non-residents will have an additional family fee of $50. For more information, call 764-2545 or visit www.pirec.org.
