MVH board member earns national honor

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Maine Veterans’ Homes Board Member Peter Miesburger was selected as the 2017 American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living “Not For Profit Trustee Award” winner.

This award honors a not-for-profit trustee committed to carrying out faithfully the functions of the board and dedicated to improving the lives of frail and vulnerable individuals.

Each year, AHCA/NCAL recognizes the men and women who selflessly care for individuals in long-term and post-acute care centers, intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) residences, and assisted living communities. Honorees demonstrate selflessness and compassion, and strive to enhance the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities in their communities.

Miesburger served more than 20 years in the United States Air Force as a master sergeant/fire protection crash rescue supervisor. He has served on the MVH Board of Trustees since 1990 and is currently the secretary of the board.

Award recipients will be honored at the AHCA/NCAL 67th annual convention in Las Vegas on Oct. 18.
