From the Bunkers (week of August 2, 2017)

We had another wonderful week. Our course remains well maintained and looking fine. This weekend’s scramble with Golf for Life participants and members was enjoyed by all. Fellowship after was great with delicious snacks supplied by the Lakeside Restaurant. Winners this time were the foursome of Rob and Leann Kinens, Barry Ivey, and Dick York. Well done, players.

With only three weeks left, many teams in the Men’s League find themselves searching for ways to upset the favorites, so they can get a chance at the playoffs. It will be exciting this week.

Coming events for your calendar: Aug. 12 and 13, the County Open will be contested with an 18-hole stroke play tournament at Houlton on Saturday and a four person scramble at VaJoWa in Island Falls on Sunday.

These tournaments benefit Houlton Regional Hospital and the Health Services Foundation so sign up soon for both tournaments.

The  Club Championship/Presidents Cup will be held on the following weekend, Aug. 19 and 20. This is a 36-hole competition with handicaps applied. It will be flighted so everyone who is a member with a GHIN handicap is eligible to play. Sign up now and show others that you are a proud member. Ladies and Juniors will also have their own flight.

On Labor Day weekend we will have our biggest tournament of the year, the Babe Caron Memorial Member-Guest. There will only be 32 two-person teams allowed this year, so grab your guest player with a verifiable handicap and call the pro shop to sign up.

The Lakeside Restaurant is still going strong. Rumor has it that more weekend entertainment is planned in the near future. Call Nancy at 694-9494 to make your reservations or for more info.

See you at the course this week!
